Jordan Wilson, President

Mr. Wilson holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Alberta (1988). Additionally, he possesses designations as a Canadian Chartered Accountant (1990), a Chartered Financial Analyst (1999), and a Certified Financial Planner (2007).   

Mr. Wilson worked for Price Waterhouse in their small business unit. While there, he performed audits, reviews, and compilation engagements for private and public companies. Further, he prepared and reviewed tax returns for individuals and corporations.

Mr. Wilson then worked in the oil and gas industry. First, as Controller and Director for a private oil services company, Baroid of Canada; then as Treasurer, Vice-President Finance and a Director of Bellator Explorations Inc., a public company.

At Bellator, Mr. Wilson was involved in: taking a private company public; mergers and acquisitions, and related due diligence; public and private financing, including an Initial Public Offering, flow-through shares, standard, debt, convertible debentures, and equity; corporate reporting and shareholder meetings.

In 1997, Mr. Wilson joined UBS AG in the Cayman Islands working with their local trust company. While in the Caribbean, Mr. Wilson was heavily involved in the UBS fiduciary business in both Grand Cayman and The Bahamas. He was heavily involved in all aspects of the trust business including: management and review of trusts and companies; preparation and review of client financial statements; portfolio performance measurements and evaluations; individual investment analysis and recommendations on standard and exotic assets, including derivatives, hedge funds, real estate, and operating companies; estate planning and philanthropic concerns.

Mr. Wilson transferred to Zurich in 2001, where he worked in the Wealth Planning unit of UBS. Here, Mr. Wilson dealt with risk management functions relating to foundations and managed companies, in addition to his work in trust operations. Further, he was extensively involved in the development and global implementation of fiduciary risk management tools, trust information databases, and client accounting software for fiduciary structures.

In 2004, Mr. Wilson was named Head, Global Trust Operations. As Head, he was responsible for the UBS trust companies in The Bahamas, the Cayman Islands, the Channel Islands and Singapore as well as local operations in Switzerland.  Work involved: technical support for UBS Financial Planners; review and approval of all non-standard or high value business; preparation and updating policies and procedures relating to the fiduciary business; new product development and roll-out; training of trust employees and Financial Planners.

Mr. Wilson served as Chair for each trust company and dealt with local lawyers, accountants, regulators, and government officials in respect of the trust business. Mr. Wilson also served as a personal director for numerous client companies while at UBS.

In 2007, Mr. Wilson returned to Western Canada where he established Wilson Wealth Management. 


In-House Skills and Experience

In addition to the skills and experience outlined above, Wilson Wealth Management staff have significant experience in a wide range of financial, tax, and accounting services.

For estate planning and taxation, one individual is a Canadian Chartered Accountant who has successfully completed all three levels of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants' In-Depth Tax Course. This individual has worked as a Tax Manager in an international public accounting firm and has experience preparing and reviewing tax returns as well as advising on tax planning strategies for businesses and high net worth clients.
 
For risk management, one individual holds a Certified Internal Auditor designation and has previously served as an Internal Audit Manager in a multinational, publicly traded company. This individual is also licensed as a United States Certified Public Accountant and has significant experience accounting for transactions under American and Canadian Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
